The President of Yarmouk University, Professor Malek A. Alsharairi, and the Director of the Language Education Center in the friendly People’s Republic of China, Ms. Yu Tianke, signed an agreement to increase the number of Chinese language instructors at Yarmouk University, in support of the university’s efforts to teach and enhance the quality of Chinese language instruction.
The memorandum stipulates that the Center will dispatch Chinese language instructors at the beginning of the next academic year to teach at the University’s Language Center, as part of the language packages offered by the university. The instructors will teach the Chinese language curriculum, including skills in speaking, listening, and reading.
Alsharairi expressed Yarmouk University’s pride in this partnership and its future aspirations to strengthen and build upon it with the Chinese Language Education Center. He noted that this cooperation will contribute to teaching Chinese at the university and to developing students’ skills, enabling them to use the language proficiently, pursue postgraduate studies at various Chinese universities, and enhance their competitiveness in regional and international labor markets.
He also affirmed the university’s readiness to receive Chinese students who wish to learn Arabic Program for Speakers of Other Languages(APSOL) at the Language Center, which would enrich cultural and civilizational diversity on campus. At the same time, he pointed to the possibility of expanding cooperation by organizing joint educational and cultural activities to introduce the student community to the Chinese language and culture.
For her part, Tianke praised the distinguished academic reputation of Yarmouk University and the high standard of its Language Center, commending the university’s direction toward teaching and expanding Chinese language programs. She noted that this will contribute to supporting and developing the Chinese language program at the university, especially in light of the increasing demand from students to study and learn the language.
She also reviewed the establishment of the Language Education Center in China and its efforts to promote and teach the Chinese language in various countries around the world and across different educational levels, noting that the Center employs a variety of methods and approaches in teaching Chinese, including the use of artificial intelligence in the educational process.
