
Dr. Safaa Haddad from the Music Department at the Faculty of Fine Arts participated in the 11th International Conference on the Arabic Language, held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The conference is organized annually by the International Council of the Arabic Language, with wide Arab and international participation.
During her participation, Dr. Haddad presented a research paper titled “The Role of Music in Teaching Arabic to Non-Native Speakers: Towards Enhancing Cultural Competence and Appreciating Arabic Music.” In her paper, she discussed the importance of integrating music into teaching Arabic to non-native speakers, as a way to develop language skills and increase awareness and appreciation of Arabic music.
She also provided an analysis of the role of music in teaching Arabic in terms of its cultural aspects, and how it can be used to enhance cultural competence among learners of Arabic as a foreign language.
