The computer society student branch at Al-Hijjawi Faculty for Engineering Technology at Yarmouk University, which is affiliated with the International Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, won the award of the best student branch in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, which is the highest award a student branch can obtain, for the distinguished activities and achievements of the students of the branch. The branch got the award due to the distinguished leadership and administrative skills showed by a group of the branch students, namely Qusai Mashraqi, Yara Shalaby, Etab Obeidat, and Tala Al-Qudah, who were supervised Dr. Manal Al-Bazour from the Department of Computer Engineering.
The Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Mowaffaq Otoom, said that this award contributes to encouraging the Faculty students to join the branches of such student clubs, which will provide students with an environment of active participation and involvement in the different activities and projects of the Faculty. The President of the University, Professor Islam Massad, affirmed that obtaining such prestigious awards by students is a piece of evidence on the University’s commitment towards supporting and enabling its students to create, compete, and accomplish achievements that improve the University's reputation at the global level, praising the excellence of the Computer Society students at Al-Hijjawi Faculty for Engineering Technology in the Faculty’s various activities and initiatives. He then added that such student branches are important for providing an environment that encourages innovation and creativity through a variety of activities, seminars, and projects that can provide student members with real opportunities to expand their experiences, communicate with industry leaders, and learn about the latest developments in the field.
