85 Article (11): Fourth: Investigation of the Respondent a. The investigation of the respondent shall begin within two weeks from the date the complaint is referred to the committee, unless there is a justified reason to extend this period. b. When the student appears before the committee, their identity shall be verified, and all relevant information shall be recorded, including full name, major, faculty, university ID number, place of residence, phone number, and whether any prior disciplinary penalties have been imposed. This information shall be documented in the minutes. c. The respondent shall not be sworn in, and any oath administered shall render the proceedings null and void. d. The committee shall inform the respondent of the alleged violation by reading the complaint submitted against them and requesting their response. e. If the respondent admits to the alleged violation, the committee shall record the admission using wording as close as possible to that used by the respondent. If the committee is convinced by this admission, it may rely on it and issue the appropriate decision in accordance with the applicable regulations. f. If the respondent denies the alleged violation, refuses to respond, or the committee is not convinced by their admission, the committee shall proceed to hear evidence and defense statements. g. The committee shall begin by hearing the evidence, including summoning the complainant to provide testimony as a witness after being sworn in, as well as any other witnesses or evidence submitted to support the complaint. h. If, after reviewing the evidence, the committee determines that no violation has occurred, it shall decide to close the case. i. If the committee finds that a violation has occurred, it shall ask the respondent whether they wish to provide a defense statement. The respondent may submit any evidence, including requesting witnesses. The committee has the right to reject or not consider any evidence if it deems it non-probative.
