Introduction

On behalf of the faculty of pharmacy at Yarmouk University, it is our honor and privilege to invite you to participate in the conference: “Recent Trends in Pharmaceutical Research”.

This wide-scope conference will allow scientists from various pharmaceutical fields to share their knowledge and expertise with their peers from academia and the industrial field.

Researchers, pharmacists, and graduate students are welcome to submit abstracts of their research to participate as speakers and in the poster presentation sessions.

Conference Goals

The conference will be a platform for scholars with interdisciplinary interests related to pharmaceutical research to exchange ideas and expand their professional network. The conference will cover new trends in pharmaceutical fields including new and emerging drug targets, modern pharmacognosy and phytochemistry, updates in pharmacology and clinical research, and novel approaches in pharmacy practice. Submitted work for participation (both abstracts and posters) will be reviewed by a scientific committee.

    Yarmouk University, (abbreviated as YU) is a public state-supported university located near the city centre of Irbid in northern Jordan.Since it was established by Royal Decree in 1976, Yarmouk University has topped the best university lists in Jordan and the Middle East.YU has around 37,000 students working within a total of 15 faculties offering 52 bachelor's degrees, 64 master's degrees, and 18 PhD programmes in different disciplines. The university also hosts 12 research and career centres, including the Aqaba Marine Science Station at Aqaba,The Refugees, Displaced Persons & Forced Migration Studies Center and the UNESCO Chair for Desert Studies & Combat Desertification.The institution has an FM radio station that broadcasts 24 hours a day, seven days a week at the frequency of 105.7 FM, airing the news, music, p olitical, social and academic programmes and the weather forecast. It also prints the Sahafat Al-Yarmouk newspaper. Yarmouk University’s Museum of Jordanian Heritage displays cultural artefacts, including centuries-old stone carvings. All university buildings are located near the city centre of Irbid, the second largest city in Jordan.

    The Faculty of Pharmacy was reopened in Yarmouk University in 2013 after it being transferred to Jordan University of Science and Technology in 1986 to be part of the Faculty of Medicine.

    The College began as a guest at the Faculty of Economics and Science until the Princess Iman Building was established at the southern headquarters of the University in 2019, which was funded by a generous grant from the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development at a cost of JD 6.5 million with a total area of ​​21,000 m2 and a capacity of 3,000 students.

    The B.Sc. Pharmacy degree programme in Yarmouk University was launched in 2013 by a decision of the Higher Education Council. The Bachelor's degree is awarded after successful completion of the program within a maximum period of 5 years (165 credit hours). The program focuses on the pharmacist’s primary responsibilities in health care and industry, to prepare graduates to work in various fields of pharmaceutical business in R & D, academia, industry, marketing, and pharmaceutical companies and warehouses. The Faculty of Pharmacy is continuously applying and receiving International accreditations and local quality assurance certificates, the Faculty of Pharmacy holds specialized accreditation for the Bachelor of Pharmacy program from the Higher Education Accreditation Commission (HEAC). The Faculty of Pharmacy has been certified by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) for fulfilling the highest educational standards.

    Latest achievements of the faculty of pharmacy at Yarmouk University
    • The faculty of Pharmacy at YU has been ranked the 3rd in Jordan according to Scimago institutions rankings.
    • The Faculty of Pharmacy has received the international accreditation from The Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) in 2023.
    • A new master’s degree program has been proposed and is in its final stages for launching.
    • An MoU has been signed with the ministry of health allowing students from medical fields, including pharmacists, to train within its hospitals, along with the simulation pharmacy present.

    Requirements for speaker and poster partcipation

    Attach a research abstract in accordance with the conference scope within the registration from, the researchers with the accpeted abstracs will informed via email within two weeks of the registration deadline. The scientific committee will review all abstracts.

    Abstracts are only accepted in English, provided that they meet the requirements listed below:

    • The research should fall under one of the conference's themes.
    • The research submitted for participation in the conference must adhere to the scientific and academic methodology.
    • the abstract must fall within the limit of 250-300 words, with sections indicating the objective of the study, the methodology, results and conclusion.
    • The contact information for the researcher and supervisor must be included in the abstract if the research is extracted from a university scientific thesis (phone number, e-mail).

    • The deadline for receiving abstracts is: 02 April 2023 .
    • The deadline for registration is: 09 April 2023 .
    • The conference will be held on 9-10 May 2023 .
    • Certificates of conference attendance will be given out at the closing ceremony.
