The organizing committee of the first international conference on epidemics through history, which has been organized by the Department of History and Archaeology at Kuwait University from 20-21 April, sent a letter of thanks and appreciation to the President of Yarmouk University, Prof. Zeidan Kafafi for his invaluable participation in the scientific sessions of the conference.

Prof. Kafafi's paper entitled "Three Pathological Cases in the Stone Ages at the Eastern Mediterranean" discusses the role of understanding the manifestations and developments of humans' civilization in order to better evaluate the transmission of cultural developments as well as diseases and epidemics faced by humanity throughout history. In his paper, Kafafi presents examples of some diseases known during the Stone Ages like malaria, which spread in marshy areas. He also mentions three types of diseases identified from prehistoric times, namely paralysis, cerebral hemorrhage, and tuberculosis that dates to 9,000 years ago, at the site of Ain Ghazal - east of Amman.
