The Departments of Languages and Translation at the Faculty of Arts at Yarmouk University are honored to organize the "First International Conference on Languages and Translation: Between Tradition and Modernity", scheduled to take place from August 6 to 7, 2025. This conference serves as an academic platform that brings together researchers, academics, and practitioners in the fields of languages and translation to discuss contemporary issues and recent developments in linguistic, literary, and translation studies.
The conference aims to explore the relationship between tradition and modernity in these disciplines by shedding light on modern approaches to linguistics, changes in phonology and semantics, and issues of multilingualism, as well as discussing innovations in lexicography and the role of artificial intelligence in shaping languages, literature, and translation. Additionally, the conference will address the impact of translation on cultural transmission and its influence on literary studies, in addition to the challenges facing translators in the digital transformation era.
It also aims to highlight contemporary fields of applied linguistics, which are rapidly expanding to encompass most aspects of human life. Additionally, it places special emphasis on modern literary studies, including critique, analysis, and appreciation.
We hope this conference will provide a valuable opportunity for academic dialogue and knowledge exchange, enriching research and fostering collaboration among scholars from various disciplines and interests.
