The Department of Translation was established in 2008/2009 as a new department in the Faculty of Arts. It was the first of its specialization in the Jordanian public universities. It offers a program of study leading to a Bachelor's Degree in English – Arabic – English translation. It has a teaching staff all of whom are graduates of British and American universities and it plans to offer postgraduate programs in the future.

The main objective of the Department is to provide its students with knowledge and training in translation to enable them either to pursue higher education or seek translation careers in private and public sectors inside and outside Jordan.

To achieve its goals the Department plans to hold seminars and conferences on translation and interpreting.
