The Department of Semitic and Oriental Languages was established in 2000/2001 as a new department in the Faculty of Arts .It offers a program of study leading to a Bachelor's degree with a single and major specialization in Hebrew and Persian. Presently , there is a plan under discussion to offer a minor specialization in Hebrew , Persian and Turkish . There are 145 students enrolled in the Department . In addition , the Department has a program of teaching Hebrew, Persian and Turkish courses into the Departments of Arabic, History and Journalism . Â
The main objective of the Department is to provide its students with strong basic knowledge in Hebrew and Persian to enable them to either pursue higher education or seek careers in private and government sectors .
