The daily lives of most of the world population are directly affected by the professional activities of electrical engineers. These activities encompass a wide range of responsibilities. Amongst these responsibilities are the development of radio and television transmitters and receivers, telephone networks and switching systems, computer systems, and electric power generation, transmission and distribution systems. Electrical engineers are also responsible for the design of miniature semiconductor integrated circuits that contain millions of elementary devices. They also design and create satellite communication links, and other electrical and electronic measurement and control systems that have applications in all aspects of life such as medical treatment and patient monitoring, entertainment, transportation, and industrial activities. Thus, the role of electrical engineers in modern civilization is vital and almost unparalleled. In recognition of this role, and in response to modern market demands, The Hijjawi College for Engineering Technology was established in 1984, with a generous donation from Hisham Hijjawi Scientific Foundation. Mission of the college is to provide the engineering and technology sectors in Jordan and neighboring countries with highly trained and technically competent engineers in the field of electrical engineering and information technology. Four Bachelor degree programs are offered at the college: Electronics Engineering, Communications Engineering, Computer Engineering and Electric Power Engineering.
