Prof. Ahmad Al-Ajlouni
Hijjawi faculty for Engineering Technology was established at YU through a generous donation from the Scientific Foundation of Hisham Adeeb Hijjawi (SFOHAH). The Faculty offers engineering programs of study leading to the B.S. and M.S. degrees in five Engineering disciplines: Electric Power, Electronics, Telecommunications, Computer, Biomedical and Medical Informatics.
The daily lives of most of the world population are directly affected by the professional achievements of electrical engineers such as the development of radio and television transmitters and receivers, telephone networks and switching systems, computer systems, and electric power generation, transmission and distribution systems.Electrical engineers design miniature semiconductor integrated circuits that contain millions of elementary devices. They also design and create satellite communication links, and other electrical and electronic measurement and control systems that have applications in all aspects of life such as medical treatment and patient monitoring, entertainment, transportation, and industrial activities. The role of electrical engineers in modern civilization is vital and almost unparalleled. In recognition of this role and in response to modern market demands, the Hijjawi Faculty for Engineering Technology was established in 1984, with a generous donation from Hisham Hijjawi Scientific Foundation. The goal is to provide the engineering and technology sectors in Jordan and the region with highly trained and technically competent engineers in the field of electrical engineering and information technology
Currently there are around 3043 students of which approximately 10 percent from neighboring countries. Since its inception in 1984, around 6000 engineers have graduated.
